Final Product

Problem fixed and run quite well. Let's take a look how Noise Pollution Index is made. But I still found that some components cannot be well plugged like the microphone and so on. The data are not well-received (i.e. by chance! XD)

Finally done! But still needa fix it!

Finally, Noise Pollution Index was a wrap on 23/4 and presented. But there is still some problems of the use of the amplifing sound circuit because it doesn't work! I need to try again on fixing the complicated circuit or simply just use the external power (i.e. not powered by Arduino) with or without the amplifiing circuit.

Let's see the presentation LIVE!

Something get stuck!!!!

Oh my god! There is something get stuck when I try to fix the problem of storing the sound files. I found that it is out of my ability to do it (either using a breakout board with microSD card player or using a recording board). So, I have decided to change my project which is simplier and more interesting. Let's take a look at my proposal.

Arduino!!! and Some Electronic Apps

From the past experience heard from the senior classmates that they have to buy Arduino overseas, like buying from Tao Bao or Sparksfun. It may take some time to wait for the shipping. But now you don't need to wait as you can buy it in Hong Kong now. I have found this when I was searching where can I buy Arduino and related stuffs in Hong Kong. Also, the price is quite OK (HKD$138 around). So, please take a look at the following website:

In addition, I am fond of iPod Touch and it always helps me to do my work. I have found some apps that had helped me a lot during the development of my final project process and producing the final project.
  1. [Getting Started with Arduino] (US $4.99) (eBook of Getting Started with Arduino)
  2. [Electrical Ref] (US $0.99) (an app helping you on knowing the electronic components and some useful circuits and calculation tools provided)
  3. [Electronics Toolkit] (Free) (an app providing calculation tools for 555 timer and LEDs)
  4. [Electrical Toolkit] (Free) (an app providing various essential electric formula calculations)

Final Project Proposal

It's about time to prepare my final project. I would like to share my self-experience in the work to the public. Shall it be a private experience or public experience?

Apliu Street, Sham Shui Po

I am not very often go to Sham Shui Po. I will get there if I would like to buy something cheap on computer appliance. So, Golden shopping mall would be my frequent visit place. Apliu Street would be quite a place of mystery.

I went there once when I took the Interactivity lesson to buy some wires for connecting the keyboard decoder and making a panel for VJ performance. Around 2 years later, I am back and buy electronic components. And in fact, they are cheap in price and they can fulfill our needs on circuit making for several weeks. It is so amazing!

That's 華輝! To me, it is really cheap to purchase. But some of my friends say there are some others cheaper. So, maybe I have to discover by myself to save my cost on producing my assignment.

First time to hack my toy

Hi there!

Welcome to my electronics blog. I used to be afraid of electronics because there are several small accidents happened while my dad doing his electronics works (actually it is just a very small 'bob'). I am also not as braved as CHAN Yik Hei (the genius inventor) to hack all the electronic appliances on his own at a very small age. So, I often say I quite dislike doing installation arts as it is very troublesome to design and present properly, aware of the interaction between audience and I need to solder the wires (to me, it is a waste of time! XD).

Although this course is a kind of challenge and I feel worried, I still will try my best to do my electronics artwork. I should tell myself it is unavoidable. You will overcome this one day.

This lesson we need to hack our toy! I can tell it is my first time of doing that. Guess which one I have chosen to hack:
Sure NOT the radio! It is the white stuff - the sound device inside one of my favourite dolls in my childhood Po from the Teletubbies. I attach a potentiometer where the IC locates so that we could change the frequency of the original sound.
Let's listen to the sound after changing the position of potentiometer. It is not quite successful as it is always out of order when I turn the potentiometer.
